Finding your happiness

Odd Trio Redux
Time for another Odd Trio prompt: write a post about any topic you want, in whatever form or genre, but make sure it features a slice of cake, a pair of flip-flops, and someone old and wise.
First attempt at daily prompt

Dear Vi,

Life is not always a slice of cake. It’s not always all sugary and sweet and doesn’t always make you feel good. There are and will be times in life when you feel sad, angry, alone or just plain irritated. But you surely can see things in your life, the way you want. You can find your happiness in small things. Be responsible for your own happiness. I have seen that in you and I hope that you keep it that way always. The happiness on your face when you get a lollipop or when you see a little dog. Keep that intact. Don’t lose those in the big drama called life.

Someone old and wise once told me that children are the best teachers. It’s so true. You have been teaching me so many things. It’s inspiring to watch and learn from you. The best lesson being “how to be happy”.

So when you are bogged down by some worry, small or big, put on your flip flops and take a walk. See the small things that make you smile. The flowers blooming, the designs that the fallen leaves make on the floor, the sleeping baby in the stroller, the wind, the fresh air.
Everything to be happy about. Everything to be grateful about.
